confusing times

I, Parson, am very confused.
Why is She sitting on the couch at 3am?
Why is that bundle in Her arms so fussy?
And why is She typing one-handed?
This is all very strange.
I'm going back to bed.

A Truly Beautiful Home

I love our home on a winter morning - sunlight streaming in the kitchen and dining room windows, frost on the ground outside, the clock ticking on the piano, Parson curled up on the floor next to me, Bryce singing in the other room, and me cozy on the couch with a blanket and tea. Such a blessing to enjoy this on a Monday morning.

Proverbs 24:3-4 (NIV)
By wisdom a house is built,
and through understanding it is established;
through knowledge its rooms are filled
with rare and beautiful treasures.

Proverbs 24:3-4 (NASB)
By wisdom a house is built,
And by understanding it is established;
And by knowledge the rooms are filled
With all precious and pleasant riches.

I like to think this verse should be understood metaphorically.

A beautiful home is something I enjoy creating, designing, and decorating - a place that visually comforts, a beautiful atmosphere, a well-planned room.  I genuinely enjoy tracking down that special something to put on the mantels (whether at a thrift store, on my travels or a gift from a special friend).  But there is something Deeper to a lovely home.  Wisdom.  Understanding.  These are the foundation of a truly beautiful dwelling.  And from Knowledge, the rooms of our home can be filled with rare and beautiful treasures such as Grace, Hope, Joy and Patience.

Jesus, please establish our home with Understanding and build it with Wisdom. May Knowledge of Your Kingdom fill this place, making it a haven, a sanctuary, a retreat filled with treasures and riches that are only found in You.

we're almost there....

Not much to report.
Except that I have one day of work left and then I'm ready for this little man to make his appearance.
His mom and dad are ready.
Come on, little guy!

Last week sometime.

Attempting to do the dishes. Not a very easy task these days.

Just this morning while I was getting ready for work. 39 weeks!

And a funny comparison: 16 weeks vs. 39 weeks.
This belly has become such a part of my life that I can hardly comprehend being that small.
I'm ready to hold the little man in my arms instead of out-in-front like a watermelon.

project: crochet blanket

Some of the ladies at work taught me to crochet last spring. Or I should say "re-taught," since I first learned in elementary school and then again in college, but never got "hooked" (pun intended). I made a few scarves over the summer/fall and then decided to attempt my first baby blanket.

I found a simple pattern online, bought some thick yarn in brown & green and got to work. The pattern can be found here.

It's thick and cozy and I can't wait to use it for our little boy.

Oh, hi Parson. I think he wanted his picture on the blog.
